Terms and Conditions
The ground rules for using RootBound, in plain language.
These are placeholders, not binding terms. The full document will replace this page.
Using RootBound
Accounts are personal. Joining a family is by invitation — you only edit yourself and the household you directly manage, unless the recordkeeper grants you more.
The record belongs to the family
What you add to the tree serves the family’s record, not your account. When you leave, the person stays and editing returns to the family.
Share only what you may share
Don’t publish someone else’s contact details, photos or private facts without their consent. Contact information moves only when its owner allows it.
Honesty over polish
Keep uncertainty intact: estimated, disputed and family-tradition facts should be recorded as such rather than upgraded to certainty.
Changes to these terms
This page will be replaced with the full terms when they are ready, and kept here as the place to find the current version.
Draft last revised October 2026.
